Vital Funds Raised for Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity

Last week, we visited Priscilla Bacon Hospice, a local charity which we have supported for over 5 years, at the site of their new Lodge. We were delighted to present a cheque for £6,000, raised from the annual NM Finance Golf Day.

The New Priscilla Bacon Lodge Facilities

The funds raised by our team, colleagues and clients will go towards the new Priscilla Bacon Lodge. The new building will offer an inpatient centre, family rooms for relatives, landscaped gardens and public areas, and education for staff. Alongside this, there will be complementary therapy suites available for families and counselling for all age groups.

Tremendous progress is being made on the new Lodge, set on an 8-acre site of land adjacent to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, which was generously donated to the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity by Robert and Charlotte Carter.

Fundraising Appeal

In 2019, the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity launched a £12.5 million fundraising appeal to build the new Priscilla Bacon Lodge. The new hospice will replace the existing facility on Unthank Road in Norwich, with the first patients due to be welcomed in the summer of 2023.

“The new site is a hive of activity, and it was truly uplifting to see first-hand the quality of environment and care that future service users will be receiving when the doors open in July 2023”.

Progress onsite

The zinc roof on the single-storey inpatient unit is almost complete. PV panels and pantiles on the two-storey section are being installed and the building is due to be watertight by the end of October.

Hugo Stevenson, Head of Operations and Fundraising, Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity said;

“We are incredibly grateful to Des and Max Mace and all the team at NM Finance for the very generous donation of £6,000 raised at their recent golf day at Barnham Broom. We are raising the final £1 million necessary to complete the new hospice and this donation gets us ever nearer our target.”

“Palliative care has moved on enormously in the last 40 years; as well as having the capacity for 24 inpatient beds, the new Lodge will offer vastly improved day care facilities, with a wellness centre, gym and a greater number of counselling and therapy rooms. Many thousands of patients will be utilising the day unit services each year to provide support through their life-limiting illness.  It also has the space to host a hub to provide and coordinate ‘virtual ward’ services for people being cared for in their homes, ensuring that we are able to help and support considerably more people than we can at the current facility.”

Golf Day 2023

NM Finance is also pleased to announce that the Annual Golf Day which will take place on 22^nd June 2023 will again be raising money for this incredible local charity which is very close to our hearts.
