Little Lifts: Our Charity for 2026

Last updated Jan 14, 2026

We’re delighted to announce that this year NM Finance will be organising and taking part in a range of activities to raise money for Little Lifts, a Norfolk-based breast cancer charity doing remarkable work in our local community and across the UK. They provide free, thoughtfully curated gift boxes to people affected by breast cancer during their most challenging moments. Breast cancer has touched many of us at NM Finance – whether personally or through family and friends – making this partnership particularly meaningful. We’d love your support in our fundraising efforts.

About Little Lifts

Little Lifts is a small but mighty breast cancer charity founded by Oa Hackett. Oa was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of just 28 and went on to have surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. During this time, her friends and family bought her thoughtful gifts to help her during treatment. Oa believed everyone should feel as loved as she did, so she Googled ‘how to start a charity’.

Little Lifts began around Oa’s kitchen table in Bawburgh with a mission to ensure that anybody who faces breast cancer treatment in the UK receives a free, thoughtfully curated box with items to help alleviate the physical and emotional side effects of treatment. To put this into perspective, that’s around 55,000 women and 400 men every year, along with 61,000 people living with secondary breast cancer.

Eight years later, Little Lifts is now based at Bowthorpe Hall in Norwich, with a team of eight staff members, six brilliant trustees, and around 70 volunteers. They call themselves ‘small but mighty’ because to date, they have gifted over 39,000 Little Lifts boxes – with 12,672 delivered in 2025 alone.

How Little Lifts boxes reach people who need them:

Little Lifts offers three types of box: Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, and Surgery boxes. Anyone in the UK receiving these treatments for breast cancer can access a box in two ways:

Through hospital partnerships in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, where eligible patients automatically receive a box from their medical team.

Through the Little Kindness Fund for people elsewhere in the UK, who can apply via the Little Lifts website or through a medical professional referral portal. Boxes are posted straight to their door.

Why This Cause Matters to Us

Every year, approximately 55,000 women and 400 men in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer, with 61,000 people living with secondary breast cancer. Behind each diagnosis is a person facing fear, uncertainty, and a whirlwind of medical appointments and difficult treatments.

As a Norwich-based business, we’re proud to support a charity doing such vital work in our local community that reaches the whole country. Little Lifts began around a kitchen table in Bawburgh and has grown into an organisation that has now distributed over 39,000 boxes to people across the UK, including 12,672 in 2025 alone.

The charity demonstrates that small gestures can make an enormous difference. A thoughtfully packed box arriving at just the right moment can provide comfort, practical relief from treatment side effects, and – crucially – a reminder that someone cares.

The Impact of a Little Lift

“I am utterly moved and grateful for the exquisite Little Lifts Box that I received during my breast cancer journey… This Box is not just a collection of items; it is a manifestation of compassion and understanding. In the midst of the physical and emotional toll that cancer treatment takes, your thoughtful gift has managed to uplift my spirits in a way words cannot fully express. It is, without a doubt, the most considerate and heartfelt gift I have ever received.”
– Saba, Queen Elizabeth Birmingham

“It made me feel so loved. The idea of a group of people reaching out to make me feel better in this awful time, was so wonderful. The whole box is so well curated. The toothbrush is so useful! It’s amazingly gentle on my delicate mouth.”
– Elinor, Bedford Hospital

“Emotional. It felt like someone understood me and gave me a big hug…”
– Vita, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital

“Very happy and gave me the lift I needed at the time. It was so perfect and fitting for my time and treatment. Everything was amazing and used.”
– Vicky, Addenbrooke’s Hospital

“It is not a box of cutlery and tea bags, it is a gesture of compassion and understanding sent without judgement and with no expectation, from fellow members of a club that no one wants to be part of.”
