Last Wednesday, the NM Finance team headed to Little Lifts in Norwich to spend the day doing something a little different. As our chosen charity for 2026, Little Lifts provides free, thoughtfully curated gift boxes to people undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery for breast cancer, and last week we got to see exactly how that process works from the inside.
176 Boxes Packed. One Record Broken!
Between us, we packed 55 chemotherapy boxes and 121 radiotherapy boxes, which Little Lifts confirmed was a record for a single day's packing. To put that into context, the charity distributes around 170 boxes every week across ten hospital partnerships in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, and has gifted over 42,500 boxes in total since founder Oa Hackett started the charity in 2017. Every year, around 55,000 women and 400 men in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer, and reaching each one of them is exactly what drives the Little Lifts team.
Why we're supporting Little Lifts: Paul's Story
Paul, a vicar, was diagnosed with primary breast cancer in August 2023 after noticing a lump whilst on holiday. He went through a mastectomy and several rounds of chemotherapy, and when his Little Lifts box arrived, it made him feel positive, cared for and thought about by people outside of his medical team. He still has items from the box, even after a house move, because of the feelings it brought at a very dark time. Paul now campaigns to raise awareness of breast cancer in men. His story is a reminder of what a thoughtfully packed box can actually mean to someone. You can read Paul's story in full here.
