Continuing our series of NM Finance adviser profiles, meet team member Nigel Broom who specialises in equity release.
Who are you and what do you do?
I am Nigel Broom and I’ve been a mortgage adviser for more than 30 years. For the last six of these, I’ve been an adviser at NM Finance’s Norwich branch, helping clients in the equity release and mortgage market.
How long have you worked in property finance and what do you enjoy working on most?
I’ve worked in financial services for the last 30 years covering all aspects of property finance advice including mortgages, protection and equity release. Although I work across the spectrum of property finance, the most enjoyable cases I work on are helping clients over the age of 55 to release equity from their homes. This can help them to fund many things including home improvements or that trip around the world that they never took before they retired.
What changes are you seeing in the industry?
The equity release market is growing each year and will undoubtedly expand in the future. This is because a growing number of people are asset rich, cash poor, with property prices still continuing to grow and pensions failing to deliver. Media coverage is also helping people to see the benefits of equity release and independent advice.
How would you sum up what makes NM Finance different?
At NM Finance we treat our clients like family and try our hardest to make their dreams come true.
